Lifestyle In Roses

I want to buy a second home in Roses – Costa Brava… but which area?

This is one of the questions we are asked most often by buyers coming from France, Belgium, Germany, the Netherlands or Switzerland.

And my answer almost never starts with showing houses.

It starts with another question:

Do you know the different areas of Roses?

Because buying in Roses town, Santa Margarida, Canyelles or Mas Fumats are completely different experiences.

MAS FUMATS
If you are looking for peace and quiet, privacy, a villa with a pool, outdoor space and, in many properties, spectacular views over the bay.

It is an area often chosen as a second home by European clients who want to truly switch off when they come to the Costa Brava.

CANYELLES / ALMADRAVA
If being close to the sea is what matters most to you.

Here the Mediterranean takes centre stage: beach, views and that holiday feeling from the moment you open the window.

SANTA MARGARIDA

If you like having practically everything close by, living by the canals or even having your own mooring.

Apartments, houses and a lifestyle closely tied to the sea.

ROSES TOWN CENTRE
If you would rather forget about the car.

Restaurants, shops, the seafront promenade, the beach and services just a few minutes’ walk away. A very convenient option for enjoying Roses for more months of the year.

And here is the mistake I see so often:

starting to look at properties before deciding how you want to live.

Because a beautiful house in the wrong area can turn into a bad purchase.

After so many years working with European buyers, for us the search does not start by asking:

“Which house do you want?”

It starts by asking:

What do you want to do when you open the door of your second home?

Walk down for a coffee?
Stroll to the beach?
Wake up looking at the bay from your pool?
Have your boat right in front of the house?
Or simply enjoy silence and tranquillity?

Once we know that, finding the right area is much easier.

And you — if you bought a second home in Roses tomorrow, what would be essential: the sea, views, peace and quiet, being able to walk everywhere, or having a boat?
